fast forward >>

I am definitely not a good blogger. My apologies! I've failed to take pictures of events that I've gone to in the past 4 weeks? so I don't have much to show. I do, however, have a few pictures of the Brooklyn Flea market and the wonderful, artery-clogging "huarache" that I ate yesterday with my friend Jasmine.

According to Wikipedia, the "Huarache is a popular Mexican dish consisting of an oblong, fried masa base, with a variety of toppings." Yes, that is exactly what it was. This thing is so massive that it takes two paper plates to hold one! The first picture of the Huarache is Jasmine's and the second picture is my Huarache- I like my food a bit spicy ;o). Although I felt bad for my body afterwards, I ate this whole thing- it was muy delicioso. Venture out to the Brooklyn Flea Market in Fort Greene on Saturdays and get yourself a Huarache!

let's parky hardy

I did. 3 weekends in a row, but I only have 2 pictures of the park to showcase for it. Also went to Blue Marble (see below) 3 weekends in a row. :) First picture = Prospect Park: Second picture = Fort Greene Park. Yes, both in Brooklyn, NY.

welcome to earth.

Happy Earth-day, Earth. Let's celebrate by eating you up- as if we aren't doing so already, just kidding, well kind of, anyway, what I mean is let's eat up BLUE MARBLE! Google 'blue marble' and you'll see why it relates to Earth Day for me, but it also relates to ice cream for me as well. My roommate Bey introduced me to this yum-tastic and cute ice cream place called Blue Marble. Located at two locations in Boerum Hill and Prospect Heights in Brooklyn, NY, Blue Marble is ALL about being eco-friendly. Read about their products! It was started by two roommates who met each other on Craigslist- how awesome. Check out their website and definitely try their ice cream- it is worth every penny. My favorite combination so far is the Matcha Green Tea and Ginger ice cream- YUM!

keep.

it.

cheap is chic.

I love discovering a good piece of clothing at a thrift shop. This was a buy 1, get 3 free kind of deal- it's 4 looks in one! I love versatile pieces.

Hm, I've got to figure out a look 5 for this one. What is this thrift shop? None other than the famous Buffalo Exchange. Okay, so it's 'recycled' clothing, but recycling makes the world go round, literally. Check it out. The Brooklyn one is huge compared to the one in the lower east side, but I'd hit up both.

rusty is to shiny. . .

. . . as genalee is to tastefullygena. What do I mean??? I have created a whole new blog. Why? Because there is a whole new me. Well, not really, but I had neglected my old blog (genalee.blogspot.com) when I had left Austin, TX, so now since I'm in NY, I thought I'd create a new one. It's quite plain, I know, but I don't exactly know what I want to do with it- I'm liking this simple template though. Anyhow, I'll keep this first post short and simple, just wanted to say HELLO again blogspot!
